We have changed the fixture definitely for tomorrow to the roadsides next to the Polo Field in Maple Plain, with an 8:30 AM start.
You can park on Pioneer Creek Rd. between Turner and Quass Cutoff, on the east side facing north, or on the north side of Turner facing west, across from the west end of the polo field. Remember to leave enough room for traffic to get by, move horses out of the way for cars, etc. and remove your manure.

Kickoff of the LLH's 51st Season

Dear Everyone,

It's 9:00 PM and all is well. We are due to begin our 51st season at 7:30 AM tomorrow morning at the parking area off Pioneer Trail behind Kitty & David Crosby's house.

I walked several of the areas we will traverse tomorrow and it looks as if the 2" of rain that supposedly fell in Medina has soaked in. We will avoid several areas of short mown grass but all in all we are a go. And the weather report says the rains will begin at noon! YIPEE!

Lots of bug juice on horse and human!

The First Foxhunt

Lead Hound Pony Club

Age 16

Throwing on breeches, ratcatcher and socks

A brush and a hairnet to tie up my locks.

I head out to see the early sunrise,

Sleepiness gone from my excited eyes.

My pony’s awake and ready to go,

To await the call of “Tallyho.”

Quickly, pack the trailer and hit the road,

I soon will meet friends as we all unload.

In no time my pony and I are all set,

We’ll gallop along; all fears I’ll forget.

The Master in his pink coat blows his horn,

Traveling on horseback through fields of corn.

Then o’er a coop, across the vast land,

Multi-colored leaves paint a pallet so grand.

The deep forest glistens with morning dew,

To the top of the hill for a magestic view.

Autumn breeze blows, I feel my horse prance,

Toward the last jump we swiftly advance.

Her excitement builds for the final chase.

Clearing rocks and ruts with amazing grace.

Slowing down, I give a pat to my horse,

And relish the moment on such a fine course.

I think she’d agree, our foxhunt was thrilling,

Nowadays they don’t send out foxes for killing.

Hounds trot away in their triumphant pack,

And I can assure you, next time I’ll be back!

The Revival of the Long Lake Hounds Blog!

The Long Lake Hounds Blog has been born again!! My hope is that it will become your go to place for updates and information concerning LLH. Please check back often for new posts and feel free to leave any comments or suggestions for improvement

The 1st piece of news that I will share with you here is a message from Master Cindy concerning one of our hounds:

We have ten new puppies (6 girls & 4 boys) in the kennels. Belle Meade Ingrid surprised us twice.

Last night Junior called me to announce that early in the morning he had taken Ingrid's temp and it had hardly dropped so he assumed puppies were not imminent. He returned later in the day and found eight healthy puppies with very full tummies. Ingrid looked tired but content and I was thrilled with only eight. Junior checked again late last night and all eight looked great (5 girls and 3 boys).

Junior went back this morning and guess what...two more, a girl and a boy! Mom & babes are doing well and Junior swears there are no more surprises! Since this is the M litter, I assume one little girl will be named MERRY!

I will post some pictures of them as soon as I get out to see them.
