The purpose of this
schooling event is to prep horses by riding fences at a pace with timing. Steeple
chase fences will be placed in a circle around the existing course. Riders will
declare which class they wish to compete. Riders make a first round to school
the course, presenting each fence to the horse. The second round will be timed
and calculated so on finishing you will know how fast you navigated the
distance and at what time. This will help with planning your pace when competing
over cross-country courses. THIS IS NOT A RACE.
The Classes and Optimal Timing
- 1.5 miles/3 Laps @450 mpm = Canter- Gallop
- 1 mile/2 laps @400 mpm= Brisk Canter
- ½ mile/ 1 lap @ 300-350 mpm=trot to slow canter
(with Fences)-
- Non Jumping 1 lap @300-350 mpm= trot to slow
canter-
Plan to arrive and enter by
declaring which class you wish to compete in. Then tack up your horse and
execute your round, get your time and go home. We send your ribbons (unless you
want to wait). Or plan to stay and tailgate with us.
Trophy and Six Ribbons to
those closest to the optimal time in each division
Liability Waivers will be
required
